Osworth Metformin is an oral biguanide antidiabetic agent. Its mode of action is thought to be multifactorial and includes delayed uptake of glucose from the gastro-intestinal tract; peripheral glucose utilization mediated by increase insulin sensitivity and inhibition of increased hepatic and renal gluconeogenesis.
Indication
Osworth metformin is used for the treatment of non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus [type 2] in adults that is non-responsive to exercise and dietary modification. Monotherapy or in combination with other oral antidaibetic agents. It is very effective in management of diabetics.
