Osworth co-trimoxazole is a combination of two antibacterial medicines a sulphonamide medicine called sulfamethoxazole, and trimethoprim. In particular, it is prescribed for infections which can occur in people who have a problem with their immune systems. It works by killing the germs (bacteria) responsible for causing the infection.

Exacerbations of chronic bronchitis that are accompanied by an increased amount of sputum and sputum purulence are suitable for co-trimoxazole treatment.
Treatment of acute otitis media and sinusitis where there is a good reason to prefer co-trimoxazole to a single antibiotic. Co-trimoxazole is as efficient as amoxicillin in many cases of unanticipated urinary tract infection.
